This morning, while meditating in nature (and after a few days of feeling down), I had an unexpected teacher: a colony of ants.
I was belly down on a tree branch, just hanging, trying to relax, surrounded by the stillness of morning and the quiet hum of the ecosystem's movement. Below me, ants marched with purpose.. small creatures, big mission. I noticed how they were performing their tasks, individually but moving rhythmically, almost invisibly, yet contributing to something much larger.
As I observed, a word surfaced in my mind: DILIGENCE!
In that moment, I was reminded of something profoundly simple: it’s not always brilliance, speed, or scale that builds the future.. its consistency, presence, and purposeful action.
Diligence doesn’t clamor for attention. It doesn’t need applause. But it delivers. Every day.
YES, AND WOW!! - I thought.
So here I am transcribing today's lesson to share it with you, my dear professional friends, colleagues, and entrepreneurs.
Diligence in Leadership..
Think about it; in our professional lives, we often celebrate breakthrough moments, big wins, and bold moves. And while those matter, they are rarely achieved without the quiet work that precedes them.
Diligence is the late-night email no one sees. The rehearsal before the pitch. The follow-up that leads to the opportunity. The day you show up when no one’s watching.
We live in a culture that rewards speed and celebrates hustle, but it’s diligence that builds foundations. It’s what keeps ecosystems alive and evolving. Right?
What the Ants Taught Me..
Each ant wasn’t trying to “go viral.” They weren’t multitasking or seeking shortcuts. They had one task, one mission, and a collective rhythm. And because they show up, consistently and without ego, their work becomes powerful. That’s what diligence is: humble persistence with impact.
As professionals, whether we’re leading teams, building businesses, or navigating transitions; what would it look like if we leaned into diligence a little more?
The Reminder..
Next time you’re feeling overwhelmed or uninspired, I invite you to pause and look at the small movements around you. Nature has been doing its work diligently for many many years. Honor that. Embody that. Let’s be a little more like the ants.
Las respuestas siempre han estado disponibles, pídele claridad al universo, calma tu mente, y pon atención.. Espero este relato de sirva en este momento o lo recuerdes cuando lo necesites, por ahora sigamos adelante con entusiasmo y diligencia! - Arlette
